Pakistan Facilitating US-Iran Peace Efforts Amid Gulf Escalations
Despite recent military escalations in the Gulf region, the peace process between the United States and Iran continues to move forward. Former Pakistan envoy Sardar Masood Khan stated that both nations remain engaged in a sensitive diplomatic effort intended to prevent a wider regional conflict.
Risks of Regional Volatility
Speaking during a televised interview, Masood Khan observed that recent attacks near Kish Island and Bandar Abbas have posed serious risks to ongoing negotiations. He warned that the region remains highly volatile and is vulnerable to renewed escalation.

The former Ambassador highlighted that Islamabad continues to maintain the trust and confidence of both Tehran, and Washington. Pakistan is currently facilitating efforts to preserve dialogue and prevent the collapse of negotiations, a responsibility Masood Khan emphasized has been undertaken with balance, caution, and strategic patience.

According to Masood Khan, both Washington and Tehran appear interested in avoiding another prolonged military confrontation. Instead, the two sides are pursuing a framework for managed de-escalation.
