Jakarta Police Arrest Five Suspects in Gruesome Pengeroyokan Incident
In a chilling turn of events, Jakarta Police have apprehended five individuals suspected of pengeroyokan, a brutal gang assault against a woman on Jalan Pluit Selatan, Penjaringan, in the north of Jakarta. The arrests took place within the Penjaringan district.
Kanit Resmob of Metro Jakarta Utara Police Station, AKP Wan Deni Ramona, confirmed the arrests, revealing that among the suspects is a minor. "We have secured all the suspected perpetrators, and we are currently interrogating witnesses to understand each person’s role," said Deni at the Jakarta Utara Regional Police Station on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025.
The primary suspects appear to be three individuals, consisting of two women and one man, tentatively identified as CK, a student, and K, a homemaker. The motive behind the attack and the roles of each suspect are still under investigation.
While not dismissing the possibility of prior personal issues between the assailants and the victim, Deni confirmed that the physical assault took place on January 5th, 2025, and was also accompanied by sexual harassment.
Police have conducted a visual inspection of the victim’s injuries, which include notable bruising on her face, particularly around her eyes, and other wounds across her body.
