Search underway for three suspects after Bridle Path shooting

In a statement released Friday, David Morton described the event as a “terrifying and life-threatening experience,” saying that it is difficult to put into words the trauma of experiencing something so horrific in the one place where everyone should feel safest: their own home.

Case Detail: The victims are the leadership of the MAC Group, a family business specializing in real estate, executive corporate housing, global mobility and Caribbean luxury villas. The company also operates a furnished apartment business and a real estate brokerage.

Inspector Kristy Smith told reporters that the suspects demanded personal valuables, though it remains unclear if any items were stolen. Smith noted that the motivation likely stemmed from the affluent nature of the neighborhood, where people would have things that are sought after.

Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw stated that specialized teams are pursuing every lead to identify those responsible. He described the impact on the family as “devastating” and said the “impact on our communities is also very real.” He added that “some of our most experienced investigators and specialized teams are following every lead to bring those involved to justice and prevent further harm.”

Neighbors and Mayor react to home attack

Neighbor Cecil Hawkins told CBC that the neighborhood typically maintains “good security,” making the violence “mind-boggling.” Hawkins said the owner of the home is a “really lovely lady” with two daughters. “The attack on Drake’s house was awful, but he’s a celebrity and you don’t think it’s ever going to happen to you as a more normal person,” Hawkins said. It’s a defenceless homeowner. Why would they react that way?”

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow expressed her concern on X, stating that such violence is unacceptable in the city. She wrote that she was “deeply troubled” and is “praying for their full recovery.” Chow asked anyone with information or footage to come forward.
