Introduction:
As 2024 winds down, Ukrainians can expect minimal changes in the weather during the first week of the New Year. However, significant shifts are anticipated to begin around January 2nd or 3rd, potentially bringing rain and snow to different regions of the country. Let’s delve into the current and upcoming weather patterns in Ukraine.

Article Body:

Winter weather in Ukraine is set to remain fairly stable through the first week of the New Year, with mostly dry conditions prevailing. According to Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center synoptoic, Наталья Птуха, the last two days of 2024 will primarily be without rain or snow.

"On the 30th and 31st of December, we expect fair weather across the country, except for some mists in northern regions and slight snowfall in the east. Temperatures are forecast to fluctuate between 0°C to 6°C during the daytime, with average nighttime lows ranging between -3°C to 0°C," she said.

Although the New Year’s celebrations look set to start under clear skies, Ukrainians should brace themselves for potential shifts in weather patterns as we advance into January. Starting from around January 2nd or 3rd, changes in Europe’s atmospheric pressure systems could usher in rain or snow to certain parts of the country.

  • "From 2nd or 3rd January, changes in Europe’s atmospheric pressure system may bring snow or rain, especially in the western and southwest regions of Ukraine," Pukha added. "However, it’s challenging to predict with certainty the full extent and impact of these incoming weather systems. We’ll closely monitor the evolving situation and issue updates as required."
