Ukraine‘s Power Crisis: Nationwide Electricity Restrictions on December 27

Article:

Ukraine is braces for further electricity restrictions on December 27, with "Ukrenergo" announcing measures to balance the nation’s power grid following recent attacks. The national energy company has revealed that both residential consumers and businesses will face power cuts and load-shedding during specific hours.

  • Residential consumers will experience outages between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with half of the planned power cuts in their area implemented during this window.
  • Businesses and industries will face load-shedding from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

"Ukrenergo" cited damage to energy infrastructure from the massive rocket and drone attack on December 25 as the reason for the stricter measures. The company is working tirelessly to repair the damaged equipment. The duration and extent of these restrictions may vary throughout the day, and consumers are advised to remain flexible.

The power company also urged Ukrainians to use electricity judiciously when supplies resume according to schedule, as preserving resources is crucial in the current situation.

On December 16, Ukraine updated the principles for scheduling power outages for households, aiming to distribute restrictions evenly across regions. From now on, each power outage queue will be divided into two subsequences, enabling gentler and more balanced power cuts.

In response to the ongoing energy crisis, Ukraine is also investing in new power generation capacities and exploring renewable energy sources to boost energy independence and economic potential.
