Bekasi, Indonesia — A recent viral proposal by an organization, eyeing a budget of Rp44 million to celebrate the New Year, has sparked public outrage and Santos has since clarified and apologized for the incident. Edi Nurhadi, the Chairman of Pancasila Youth (Pemuda Pancasila) in Bekasi Selatan, took to social media to address the issue.
In the proposal, leaked online, the organization listed a seemingly extravagant wish list, including expenses for attributes, tents, chairs, documentation, and entertainment. The amount requested raised eyebrows, given the substantial asks for seemingly minor expenses.
"There was a proposal circulating, and we’ve since stopped it," Edi said in a video clarification posted on Instagram. He then went on to apologize, "I apologize to the public if this proposal has disturbed your peace."
The video, shared by @fakta.indo, has drawn mixed reactions from netizens. Many are still upset, with some suggesting that the organization be disbanded. They argue that such requests are not beneficial to society and only serve to disturb the peace.
The Pancasila Youth has since clarified that the proposal has been shelved, and they are committed to upholding the values of their organization. It remains to be seen how they will proceed with their New Year’s Eve celebrations, and how they plan to win back public trust.
