President Prabowo Subianto has announced a new initiative, starting this year, offering free medical check-ups (medical check-up or MCU) to individuals celebrating their birthdays. The Indonesian government has allocated a significant budget of Rp3.2 trillion for this program in the 2025 national budget (Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Negara or APBN).

The program, revealed via the official Instagram account of the Gerindra Party (@gerindra), aims to provide free MCUs to birthday celebrants, focusing on early detection of various diseases to minimize mortality and disability risks.

How to Avail the Free MCU
The program is designed to be accessible, with citizens merely needing to visit a local community health center (Puskesmas) and present their identity card (KTP). The free MCU covers 14 types of diseases, targeting infants, children, and the elderly.

Diseases Covered in the Free MCU
The MCU covers 14 types of diseases, differing from the standard health screening under the National Health Insurance (Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional or JKN) scheme. The program is tailored to detect age-specific diseases, focusing on early detection to reduce the risks associated with various illnesses.

MCU Categories Based on Age Groups
The MCU program targets different age groups, each with specific focus areas:

  1. Infants and Children (Balita): Focuses on detecting birth defects such as congenital hypothyroidism. Early detection and treatment can prevent fatalities and disabilities.
  2. Adolescents (Remaja): Includes screening for obesity, diabetes, and dental health among adolescents and young adults.
  3. Adults (Dewasa): Focuses on early detection of various cancers, including breast and cervical cancer in women, and prostate cancer in men.
  4. Seniors (Lansia): Includes screening for age-related conditions like Alzheimer’s and osteoporosis, as well as general health checks.

This innovative program from President Prabowo’s administration seeks to improve public health and well-being across Indonesia through accessible, targeted medical screenings.
