“I will continue to monitor developments from day to day, week to week,” Prabowo told evacuees, noting that the province’s response to disaster‑affected residents had improved since his initial inspection.
Langkat endured some of the worst damage from the hydrometeorological disaster triggered by Cyclone Senyar in late November, with embankments at eleven sites collapsing and flooding six village‑level areas.
The local government is already repairing the damaged embankments, while all branches of the state—including police, military and relevant ministries—have been mobilised to speed up recovery.
“Earlier, the governor reported to me that shortages of clean water and embankment repairs will be addressed immediately. We are deploying all our strength,” the president said.
During the visit, Prabowo also delivered logistical aid, medicines and children’s toys, expressing confidence that, with strong cooperation, post‑disaster recovery could be completed soon.
