Indonesia‘s IKN Authority Prepares for Civil Servant Relocation Post-Lebaran 2025

The Indonesia’s New Capital Authority (OIKN) has unveiled plans to relocate civil servants, including PNS (Pegawai Negeri Sipil), to the new capital city (IKN) right after Lebaran (Eid) celebrations in 2025. Basuki Hadimuljono, the chief of OIKN, confirmed that preparations are currently underway.
Hadimuljono mentioned that apart from housing for PNS, other necessary infrastructure is also being developed. This includes offices, and the supporting ecosystem. "We are preparing infrastructure, housing, their offices, and then the ecosystem," he said after a meeting with Minister of ATR Nusron Wahid at the Ministry of ATR/BPN in Jakarta Selatan on Tuesday (31/12).
To accommodate civil servants, OIKN is preparing residential units. Currently, there are only 30 tenants in the housing area, with another 6 tenants in the Ministry of PUPR area. "So, we need to prepare more,"Hadimuljono emphasized.
For housing, OIKN is collaborating with PT Intiland Development Tbk. through Public-Private Partnership (KPBU) projects. A total of 109 land houses are being prepared for civil servants relocating to IKN. Additionally, SOE PT Nindya Karya (Persero) Tbk. is building 8 extra towers.
Hadimuljono also mentioned that more facilities will be added by 2028. Furthermore, he plans to accommodate around 900 to 1,000 personnel from the judiciary and legislative branches.
President Joko Widodo initially planned to start relocating civil servants to IKN in January 2025. However, the timeline was pushed to April 2025, following Lebaran.
