Man Who Blew Up Tesla Cybertruck Under Trump Hotel Had PTSD, No Trump Resentment – FBI

The man who died in a Tesla Cybertruck explosion next to the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas was likely suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the FBI reports. There are no indications he held grudges against Donald Trump.

Earlier reports confirmed that the deceased was 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger, a military veteran who took his own life with a gun before the vehicle, filled with fireworks, detonated. "While this incident garnered more attention and sensation than usual, it appears to ultimately be a tragic case of suicide involving a highly decorated military veteran struggling with PTSD," said an FBI spokesperson.

Investigators also released portions of a note reportedly left by Livelsberger. In it, he wrote about seeking attention for "the diseases of this country," and expressed a desire to "cleanse his spirit" due to the loss of acquaintances and "the weight of every life I’ve taken," presumably referring to his military service.

Livelsberger did not describe his actions as a terrorist attack, but rather as a stunt to draw attention. "Americans only pay attention during sports and violence. What better way to make my point than with a firework stunt?" he wrote. The FBI continues to probe his motives.

Seven people suffered minor injuries in the blast, and the hotel sustained little damage. Officials believe Livelsberger intended to cause more destruction, but the sturdy Tesla Cybertruck absorbed much of the explosion’s force.
