Lieutenant Katherine Guimond, head of the child sexual exploitation investigation division of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), stated that the profiles of the accused are highly varied. The individuals range in age from 26 to 74 years old.

Since Monday, police have conducted multiple searches that led to the seizure of 4 million files documenting child abuse and exploitation. Investigators also successfully traced four victims of voyeurism, two of whom are minors.
The arrests spanned several regions, including Montreal and its surrounding areas, as well as Rouyn-Noranda and Thetford Mines. All of the accused appeared in court during the week, and several may remain detained until their bail hearings.

To identify cyber-predators, officers must infiltrate discussion forums and websites, which exposes them to juvenile pornography. Guimond described the work as difficult, noting that officers require specialized support and a healthy life balance, calling them “heroes in their daily lives.”
