BBC Radio 1 Dance is revamping its schedule with Charlie Tee taking over the daily afternoon show, according to an announcement by Head of Radio 1 Aled Haydn Jones. The changes, designed to champion electronic music at every level, include a new monthly UK club culture show hosted by Martha and a rotating roster of prominent guest DJs for The Residency.
Charlie Tee Takes Over Radio 1 Dance Afternoons
Charlie Tee will host the station’s daily afternoon show, broadcasting Monday through Sunday from 12 pm to 3 pm, according to BBC Radio 1. She succeeds Matty Chiabi, who continues to present the 6 am to 9 am morning slot.
The afternoon programme will feature current dance tracks, new releases, and classic records. “Dance music is my life’s passion and I cannot wait to get started!” Charlie Tee said regarding her new role.
Martha Launches Monthly UK Club Culture Show
Martha is launching a three-hour monthly show dedicated to the UK electronic underground, according to station schedules. The programme will spotlight grassroots DJs, local club scenes, and regional collectives shaping British dance music.
“After almost 3 years of platforming underground club sounds on Radio 1, I want this new show to amplify, document and reflect British club culture,” Martha stated. Each monthly broadcast will explore a specific city, region, or genre to highlight physical venues and communities.
New DJ Line-Up Announced for The Residency
The station also announced a new artist line-up for The Residency on Radio 1 Dance, airing Thursdays from 11 pm to 1 am starting August 6. Jonas Blue kicks off the autumn programming with a special one-off show on Thursday, July 30.

Silva Bumpa, named a Radio 1 Dance Future Star for 2026 and Best Breakthrough DJ at the DJ Mag Best of British Awards, hosts August. “Radio 1 has supported me since day one, so to now be given the opportunity to host the Residency is a huge milestone,” Silva Bumpa noted.
September host Paige Tomlinson focuses on hard house, progressive house, and trance. “It’s something I’ve dreamed about for a long time, and to be given the chance to represent my sound on such an iconic platform means the world to me,” Paige Tomlinson said.
Sam Alfred takes over in October, bringing jazz-inspired house and UK garage from Australia. “Most people know how vast my taste in music is, so to have the opportunity to show people some of my record collection and also some other tastes I have is super exciting,” Sam Alfred stated.
Effy rounds out the autumn schedule in November, bringing breaks, electro, and UK bass to the airwaves. “As someone who listened to Radio 1 on the way to school every morning, being able to host my own show is a real privilege for me,” Effy said.
