Collision Chaos on E18 at Hvervenbukta: Truck Slide-off Triggers Chain Reaction

Article:

In a chain of events that unfolded on Monday at around 12:43 PM, a truck lost control and slid off E18 at Hvervenbukta, blocking a significant portion of the road. The incident, which occurred despite efforts to salt and clear the roads, led to a second vehicle, a car, also veering off the road shortly after.

"Road conditions are icy at the scene," confirmed Oslo Police Operations Leader, Roy Langengen. According to Langengen, a recovery crew is en route to tow both the truck, which is currently partially obstructing the road, and the car, which also requires assistance.

The driver of the truck was uninjured, but there has been no official report on the condition of the driver of the car. While efforts are underway to clear the scene, traffic in the area appears to be light, according to Tilia Mathre, a traffic operator at Vegtrafikksentralen Øst.

Despite the hazards of winter driving, Mathre noted that traffic conditions have been relatively calm throughout the day, with only a few instances of vehicles losing grip on slippery sections of the road.

This incident serves as a reminder for drivers to exercise caution during the winter months, keeping their vehicles in good working order and maintaining safe speeds, especially on potentially hazardous roads like the E18.
