Breaking News: FBI Uncovers Record 150 Improvised Explosives in Oklahoma City Raid
In an unprecedented operation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has discovered and seized 150 homemade explosive devices during asearch warrant execution in Oklahoma City, representing the largest such find in the agency’s history.
The FBI, along with local police and ATF agents, conducted a meticulous raid at a residence on the city’s southwest side on Tuesday, as part of an ongoing investigation. The seizure includes improvised explosive devices (IEDs), components, and materials used in their manufacturing.
"It is truly alarming to see such a large cache of dangerous devices in one location," said Rachel O’Connor, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Oklahoma City field office. "The diligent work of our investigators and partners has potentially saved countless lives."
The volatile materials discovered during the raid included precursors for making triacetone triperoxide (TATP), a powerful explosive often referred to as "Mother of Satan" due to its extreme instability and detonation potency.
Neighboring residents were evacuated as a precaution during the operation, and local schools were placed on lockdown. No injuries were reported, and all evacuations were later lifted.
The suspect, a 52-year-old Oklahoma City resident, was taken into custody without incident. Their identity has not been disclosed, and no charges have been filed as of yet. The FBI assures the public that the investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
The significant find has raised concerns about potential domestic terrorism activities, with experts stressing the importance of informative public awareness on explosive hazards. In a statement, the FBI urged anyone with information about suspicious activities or individuals to contact their local field office or submit tips online.
The Oklahoma City Police Department praised the collaborative effort between local and federal agencies, stating, "This seizure is a testament to what can be accomplished through strong partnerships and unwavering commitment to public safety."
The record haul surpasses the FBI’s previous high of 122 IEDs seized in a 2018 operation in North Carolina. As the investigation continues, the world waits with bated breath, praying that such a staggering discovery does not spell trouble on the horizon.
