Holiday Transportation Schedule Changes Announced in the Capital

The Capital Municipality has announced changes to the city’s public transportation schedule for the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, according to BTA news agency.

Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day Schedule

From December 24 to 26, public transport will operate on a holiday schedule. On December 23, 27, 30, and 31, as well as January 2 and 3, most public transport lines will also operate on holiday schedules, with the following exceptions:

  • Metro lines 1, 2, 3, and 4 will operate on weekday schedules.
  • Bus lines X9, X10, 61, 66, 67 (code 105), 83 (code 183), 85, 101, 204 (code 117), 285, 804, and 805 will not operate.
  • Trolleybus lines 1, 7, and 9 and tram lines 6, 8, 10 (code 174) and 22 will not operate.
  • Bus lines U1, U2, 7, 58, 68, 75, and 294 will temporarily suspend operation.

New Year’s Eve Extended Service

Traditionally, on December 31 from 11:30 PM to 4:30 AM on January 1, most public transport lines will extend their service hours, including:

  • Metro lines 1, 2, 3, and 4
  • Bus lines 72, 73, 83, and 85
  • Trolleybus lines 1, 2, 7, and 9
  • Tram lines 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 18, 20, and 22

Changes for Religious Services

The Capital Municipality also announced changes to public transport schedules for attending religious services at the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.

Bul. "Todor Kableshkov" Reopens

Effective from 00:00 hours on December 23, 2024, Bul. "Todor Kableshkov" will reopen for traffic from Ul. "Louis Ayer" to Bul. "Cherni Vrh," the Capital Municipality announced via NOVA. The boulevard will have three lanes for eastbound (Mladost) traffic from Ul. "Louis Ayer" to Bul. "Cherni Vrh," and three lanes for westbound (Borovets) traffic from Bul. "Cherni Vrh" to Ul. "Louis Ayer." Three four-way intersections will be established: at Bul. "Todor Kableshkov" and Ul. "Louis Ayer," at Bul. "Todor Kableshkov" and Ul. "Emilian Stanev," and at Bul. "Todor Kableshkov" and Bul. "Cherni Vrh," allowing for traffic in all four directions.

In the segment from Ul. "Gatyо Shishkov" to Ul. "Ivan Andonov," traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction due to ongoing legal proceedings regarding the expropriation of a private property. Citizens are urged to exercise caution and strictly adhere to the temporary traffic regulations and road signs in the affected area.
