Former State President Raimonds Vējonis and television personality Armands Simsons joined cultural figures and public personalities at the Chekhov Theatre for the premiere of the stage production The Three Musketeers, directed by Rēzija Kalniņa. Marking the 85th birthday year of composer Imants Kalniņš, the production features fresh arrangements of his music crafted by Evilena Protektore. Meanwhile, poet Sergej Timofejev adapted Viktora Kalniņš’s song lyrics into Russian for the staging.
Director Rēzija Kalniņa urged audiences to view the performance beyond a simple adventure tale, framing it as a reflection of personal reality. “Life is like a coin—it always has two sides. So does a person. So does every choice,” Kalniņa stated regarding the psychological depth of the staging. “And theater gives us a chance to look at ourselves in the mirror for a moment and ask: what do I consider a true value in my life? Who am I loyal to? And what or whom would I never betray just for the sake of my comfort?”
The director hopes every spectator leaves the hall having formulated at least one definitive answer regarding what matters most in their life.

Artūrs Virtmanis designed the scenography, Ilze Vītoliņa handled costume design, Liene Grava directed choreography with assistance from Jelizaveta Manija, and Reinis Zalte managed lighting design. Lina Ovčiņņikova translated the dramatization text, while Gaļina Ribenko serves as the stage manager.

Evilena Protektore takes on arranging duties alongside Bogdans Mihailovs on keyboard instruments, Gidons Grīnbergs on violin, Dmitrijs Karpovs on guitar, Jūlija Saveļjeva on bass guitar, Jeļena Jasjuļaņeca on accordion, and Markus Leikums on percussion instruments.
