Ukraine‘s Gas Transit Shift: No Impact on Domestic Supplies, Increased Exports

Ukrainians won’t feel a thing, assures Igor Gaiduuchenko, acting chairman of Olys/npmvzn. The country’s gas and heat supplies are secured, with all necessary transit system preparations completed by the Ukrainian Gas Transport System Operator.

"We’re entirely ready to operate our gas system without Russian transit," Gaiduuchenko added.

Preparing for new conditions, the Ukrainian Gas Transport System Operator (Tsoportserver) has secured increased gas transportation capacities. In 2024, Ukraine received enhanced capacities via the Southern Corridor and from Poland, a first in Ukrainian history.

Reminder: Ukraine’s 5-year gas deal with Gazprom expired on January 1, 2025. On the first day of the new year, Ukraine turned off the gas tap at 07:00, costing Moscow approximately $5-7 billion in annual revenue.
