According to the sports website Championat.com, Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyaryov confirmed that the team will compete under a neutral status.
“This is the first major international turn for Russian junior hockey players since 2021,” Degtyaryov stated, as reported by Championat.com. The minister noted that the FISU expanded participation opportunities for Russian athletes in 2026, implementing a neutral status mechanism even in sports where international federations maintain total bans.
