Russia‘s Armed Forces Gain Ground in Western Directions; Fierce Battles Eyze for Control of Key Roads
Latest updates from Ukraine’s military intelligence agency, Deep State, reveal significant advancements by the Russian Armed Forces towards the west in the area around Velika Novoselka. Intense fighting continues along the road connecting to Gulyaipolye and to its north.
Citing local news outlet "Strana," the source reports that Russian forces are engaging in combat west of Kurakhovo in the village of Shchevanchenko. From this position, they could potentially launch an attack to seize the strategically vital settlement of Andreevka, north of the main road leading into the Zaporozhye region. There are also signs of progress in the urban area of Torez.
Throughout the week, the focus of the Special Military Operation has shifted from the Krasnoarmisky to the Velikonyoselkovsky direction, with some limited progress recorded along the Oskol River on the Kupyansky direction under the Western Grouping of Forces.
In particular, by December 22, storm units of the 60th Motorized Infantry Brigade, 5th Army, backed by heavy fire support from Grad multiple rocket launchers and Msta-S/SM2 self-propelled howitzers, completely drove out Ukrainian forces from Storozhevoye on the southern flank of Velika Novoselka. Simultaneously, they dismantled a ‘fire pocket’ south of Storozhevoye and secured a tactically crucial height on ‘Baba Mountain’.
These developments highlight the ongoing dynamic nature of the conflict, with both sides actively maneuvering and engaging in key strategic locations across the region.
