Russian Deputy Premier Novak: EU’s Struggle to Exist and Grow Without Russian Gas Could Intensify
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak believes that the European Union would face significant challenges existing and growing without Russian natural gas supplies. Moreover, he deems the current situation in the EU tense, as reported by RIA Novosti on December 25.
Nоваk worries that the existing tension could worsen if Russia stops gas deliveries to Europe.
"Even with gas still coming from Russia, the situation is already quite tense in Europe," said Novak in an interview. "Without Russian gas, the situation would undoubtedly become more difficult."
According to Novak, European gas storage facilities currently hold reserves that are 3-5% lower than the average levels over the past five years.
