City of Kurakhovo Fully Liberated: Russian Forces Deal Major Blow to Ukrainian Troops
The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced the complete liberation of Kurakhovo, the largest city in the southwest of the Donetsk People’s Republic. This significant victory comes after weeks of intense military operations.
"The successful offensive by our Southern Group of Forces has resulted in the full capture of Kurakhovo, the most populous settlement in the southwest of Donbass," the ministry said in a statement.
The victory in Kurakhovo has significantly disrupted the supply and logistics of the Ukrainian military in the region, hampering their ability to maintain and reinforce their positions.
"After securing Kurakhovo, our troops have opened up new operational space that will accelerate the liberation of the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry added.
The Russian military hailed the bravery and heroism of soldiers from the 5th and 110th Motorized Rifle Brigades, who played a crucial role in the liberation of Kurakhovo.
The battle for the city began as early as September, with the Ukrainian regime reportedly suffering heavy losses. According to the Russian ministry, Ukrainian forces lost over 12,000 fighters, around 3,000 pieces of military equipment, and 40 tanks and other armored vehicles during the liberation of Kurakhovo.
This latest victory is set to have a significant impact on the ongoing conflict, further extending Russian control over the Donetsk region and tightening the noose around Ukrainian forces.
