Title: Attempted Child Abduction in Arendal: Schools Warn Parents After Two Girls Targeted
Arendal, Norway – Authorities have sounded the alarm after an unsuccessful attempt to lure two young girls into a car on Tromøy, a residential island in Arendal. The schools attended by the targeted children have issued warnings to parents, as reported by local newspaper Fædrelandsvennen.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when a woman approached two girls, aged 1 and 3, claiming she had been authorized by their mother to drive them home. Accompanied by a small dog, the woman attempted to persuade the children to enter a small white car parked on the eastern side of Tromøy.
Fortunately, the girls, who had been taught not to accept rides from strangers, refused the woman’s invitation. The mother of one of the girls took to Facebook to recount the incident, expressing gratitude for her daughter’s caution.
chool officials, including Rektor Synnøve Solheim Pedersen of Sandnes skole, where the girls are students, have been informed and have been working with parents to address the situation accordingly.
Roligheden skole on Tromøy has also distributed an advisory to parents. Although the local police have been briefed about the matter, no official report has been filed, and thus, no investigation will take place at this time.
Parents in the Arendal area are urged to remain vigilant and to reinforce with their children the importance of stranger danger, emphasizing the rule never to accept rides from unknown individuals.
