Headline: Italian Election Intentions: Lega Gains Amid Salvini’s Open Arms Verdict, FDI and FI Stumble
In the aftermath of former Interior Minister Matteo Salvini’s acquittal in the Open Arms case, Italians have spoken through the latest polls. According to a Swg survey for Tg La7, the League (Lega) has seen a boost of 0.4%, standing alone among the coalition parties to record a gain. In contrast, both Fratelli d’Italia (FDI) and Forza Italia (FI) have taken a hit, dropping 0.2% and 0.3% respectively.
The opposition parties have also witnessed fluctuations. The Democratic Party (PD) has remained steadfast, while the Five Star Movement (M5S) has rebounded with a 0.3% increase. The Greens and Left Alliance (Alleanza Verdi Sinistra) has experienced a minor setback, falling by 0.2%.
Among the smaller parties, Italy Viva and Azione have advanced by 0.2% each, and Noi Moderati have gained 0.1%. Conversely, +Europa has lost 0.1%, while Sud Chiama Nord remains unchanged, and other lists have dropped by 0.3%.
