A Bexar County judge has sentenced a San Antonio man to 70 years in prison for a fatal stabbing that occurred in December 2024. Judge Ron Rangel, presiding over the 379th Criminal District Court, delivered the sentence to Carl Mott, 62, on Friday.

Mott was convicted five weeks prior to sentencing of murder and tampering with evidence related to the stabbing on Dec. 14, 2024, in the 2600 block of Northeast Loop 410. San Antonio police reported that Michael Bowman, 52, was stabbed with a knife at a bus stop.
Prosecutors presented evidence indicating that Mott and Bowman’s wife had been involved in a long-term extramarital affair. Bowman was stabbed in his upper left shoulder and later died from the injury after seeking help at a nearby restaurant. Approximately 11 hours after the stabbing, San Antonio Police Department officers arrested Mott at his home on the West Side.
