The return to school marked a major milestone for Shellybanks Educate Together National School following the June opening of its permanent two-storey building. According to principal Aiveen Carr, the new facility includes brand-new classrooms, a sports hall, library, sensory room, and yard space, replacing the prefabs previously occupied during the development.
The upgraded infrastructure also features tailored facilities designed to accommodate three autism classes.

Parent Austin Rondema, whose children Frankie and Julien entered first class and senior infants respectively, noted that cultural diversity was a key factor in selecting the school.
