Kapolri Ensures Safety and Conveys Message of Unity in 2024 Natal Celebrations
NATAL, December 24, 2024 – The National Police Chief (Kapolri) has guaranteed the safety and security of all citizens during the Natal celebrations, stressing the importance of unity and harmony among the diverse communities in Indonesia.
In a recent statement, the Kapolri emphasized the need for intensifying patrol and surveillance operations to maintain security and tranquility during the festive season. He called upon all personnel to enhance vigilance and cooperate with local communities to prevent any untoward incidents.
"We are committed to ensuring that all citizens, regardless of their religion or background, can celebrate safely and peacefully," the Kapolri stated. "Our message is one of unity and harmony, and we encourage everyone to foster good neighborly relations and strengthen social cohesion."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Religions (Menag) has extended warm greetings to Indonesian Christian communities, wishing them a peaceful and joyous Natal celebration. The Menag highlighted the importance of maintaining a spirit of togetherness and mutual respect among all religious groups in the country.
"Let us celebrate this Natal in an atmosphere of unity, peaceful coexistence, and understanding," the Menag said in a statement. "We reiterate our commitment to promoting communal harmony and preventing any acts that could disrupt the serenity of our nation."
In parallel, the Menag has also expressed its support for religious houses of worship serving as sources of spiritual life and community cohesion. It called upon all religious leaders to instill in their followers the values of tolerance, Moderation, and compassion to further fortify social resilience.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) has launched an awareness campaign to promote environmental conservation, urging the public to maintain cleanliness and minimize waste during the Natal celebrations. The campaign, themed "#SaveNatureForNatal," encourages everyone to protect Indonesia’s biodiversity and preserve the beauty of the nation for future generations.
