Istanbul, Turkey – The Turkish Meterology Department has issued severe weather warnings as the country braces for heavy rains, strong winds, and snowfall in several regions. The high temperatures and gusty winds have returned, with most regions expected to experience temperatures 3-4 degrees above average.
- Istanbul’s Weather Warnings
In Istanbul, rain will resume on Monday evening after a brief pause and continue into Tuesday. More rain is expected on Tuesday, while Saturday remains dry. However, Istanbul can expect another bout of rain within the next three to four days.

Antalya’s Weather Alert
Meteorologists have advised residents in Antalya’s eastern districts to remain vigilant, as heavy rain is expected to hit the region from Wednesday afternoon onwards. Strong rain is also expected in the Hatay region.
- Weather Warnings for Other Regions
According to meteorology reports, heavy to severe storms are expected in the following regions on Saturday, December 21:
- Ege Region: Heavy to very heavy storms in coastal areas, with severe storms in Izmir, Mugla’s southeastern districts, and Aydin’s northern districts.
- Marmara Region: Heavy storms in Edirne, Tekirdağ, Kırklareli, Çanakkale, and Balıkesir. Very heavy storms expected in Çanakkale’s southern regions and Balıkesir’s western coasts.
- Antalya: Heavy, very heavy, and severe storms in western and central districts from morning onwards, with extremely heavy storms expected in Alanya, Gündoğmuş, and Manavgat’s inland regions, along with Serik, Ibradi, Akseki, Kaş, and Demre districts.

Burdur, Isparta, and Konya: Heavy storms expected in these regions, along with thunderstorms and hail.
- Safety Measures and Warnings
The Meterology Department advises citizens to be cautious of flash floods, water inundation, lightning, sudden gusts of wind, and temporary storms, which may cause traffic disruptions.
- Weather Alerts for 17 Cities
The Meterology Department has issued warnings for 17 cities across Turkey, with 12 cities under a ‘yellow’ (Mavi) warning and 5 cities under an ‘orange’ (Turuncu) warning.
