Heads Up: Severe Storms and Hail Expected in Buenos Aires and Other Provinces

The yellow alert level indicates that areas in the center of the country, including provinces like Buenos Aires, Salta, Jujuy, Tucumán, Catamarca, La Rioja, San Juan, Mendoza, San Luis, Neuquén, La Pampa, and Río Negro, will experience isolated thunderstorms, some intense or severe.
Expected Weather Phenomena:
- Abundant waterfalls in short periods
- Strong gusts
- Occasional hailstorms
- Electric activity
Heavy rainfall accumulation between 20 to 40 mm is expected, with the possibility of exceeding these values in specific spots.
In northern regions and the cordillera, isolated thunderstorms, some locally intense or severe, are expected, accompanied by:
- Abundant precipitation in short periods
- Intense electrical activity
- Hailstorms
- Strong gusts, possibly exceeding 60 km/h
Rainfall accumulation between 30 to 50 mm is anticipated, with potential local peaks.
Stay Safe During Severe Weather:
- Yellow alert in effect; follow the recommendations from the Servicio Meteorológico Nacional:
- Avoid outdoor activities.
- Don’t take out the trash; remove objects blocking water drainage.
- Steer clear of trees and electrical posts that may fall.
- Stay away from beaches, rivers, lakes, and swimming pools to minimize lightning risk.
- Be aware of possible hailstone falls.
- Stay informed through local authorities and keep an emergency kit handy with a torch, radio, documents, and a phone.
