Shumen Health Inspectors Find Increased Water Turbidity in Drinking Water
In an unscheduled check, Shumen’s Regional Health Inspectorate discovered an unacceptable increase in the organoleptic quality of drinking water, specifically in the turbidity parameter. The inspection team took samples from four points across the city and conducted a laboratory analysis.
"The high turbidity levels are likely due to recent rainfall," said a representative from the Regional Health Inspectorate. "However, no other deviations from health standards were found in the physicochemical parameters. Microbiological analysis results are still pending. Traces of residual chlorine, which adhere to normative requirements, were found in the water sources."
The inspectorate advises residents using water from "Ticha" Reservoir (Shumen, Veliki Preslav, Panaipot Volov, Belokopitovo, and Dibich) for household purposes to refrain from drinking it or using it for food preparation.
In response to the findings, the Regional Health Inspectorate – Shumen has bolstered its control over the disinfection of water supplied by "V and K – Shumen" Ltd in the "Ticha" Reservoir water supply zone.
