Gunfire at Fovissste Diamante in Culiacán: Police Seize Two Vehicles in an Apartment Complex
Culiacán, Sinaloa – A high-impact police operation was carried out in the Fovissste Diamante neighborhood of Culiacán, resulting in the seizure of two vehicles and a significant amount of evidence linking them to criminal activities.
In the early hours of the operation, local police received reports of heavy gunfire in the area, which led them to investigate and ultimately discover two suspicious vehicles parked in the basement of an apartment building. The vehicles, a white truck and a red sedan, were found with modified exhaust systems, designed to muffle the sound of their engines, a common tactic used by criminal organizations to evade detection.
Upon inspection, police discovered that the white truck was equipped with a sophisticated system capable of projecting "ponchallantas" (spikes) onto the road, aimed at deflating the tires of pursuing vehicles. This device, designed to hinder pursuits and facilitate escape, was dismantled by authorities and seized as evidence.
The second vehicle, the red sedan, was found to be equipped with three long firearms, hidden within the vehicle’s interior. The weapons, vz. 58 assault rifles and a .50-caliber rifle, were confiscated, along with several loaded magazines.
The state’s Secretary of Public Security (SSPE) reported that the two vehicles were being used to perpetrate crimes in the area, and their seizure is a significant blow to the criminal organizations operating there. The SSPE urges anyone with information about the individuals suspected of using these vehicles to report it to the authorities.
The operation, which ended with no reported injuries, was praised by local authorities as an example of their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region. The seized vehicles and weaponry will be processed as evidence and used in ongoing investigations into organized crime activity in Culiacán.
