Sinjai Prison Launches HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign and Screening

In Observance of World AIDS Day, Sinjai Prison Conducts Awareness Campaign and HIV/AIDS Screening

In celebration of World AIDS Day, Sinjai Class IIB Prison (Rutan) collaborated with the Sinjai District Health Office (Dinkes) to host a social awareness campaign and HIV/AIDS screening event on Monday, December 23, 2024. The event was attended by dignitaries, including the Head of the Prevention and Control Division (P2P) of the Sinjai District Health Office, Akhirani, along with their staff, healthcare professionals from the prison, and all inmates.

Dr. Sudirman, representing the Sinjai District Health Office, shared crucial information about HIV/AIDS, its transmission methods, and preventive measures. Dr. Sudirman emphasized the importance of raising awareness and education as the first step in combating the spread of the disease.

"Prevention can be achieved by maintaining a healthy lifestyle, avoiding risky behaviors, and undergoing regular health check-ups," Dr. Sudirman advised.

Andi Marlianingsih, a senior nurse at Sinjai Prison, expressed her gratitude towards the District Health Office for their support and educational efforts.

"We’re deeply thankful to the Sinjai District Health Office for taking the time to come and provide education and HIV/AIDS screening for our inmates. This initiative is crucial for ensuring their well-being," Andi Marlianingsih stated.

The event was well-received by the inmates, who actively participated in the awareness session. Following the educational talk, participants underwent HIV/AIDS screening, conducted by a team of medical professionals from the Sinjai District Health Office.
