January 2025: A Month of Snow and Sunshine Expected

Get ready for a snow-filled January 2025 that will delight winter sports enthusiasts! According to TV-MET’s Chief Meteorologist, Petar Yanukov, the month will be generally wet, but with more sunny days expected in the first few days of the year.

Temperatures in the first week are predicted to be 1°C above average, while the second and third decades will see 1°C below normal readings. The average maximum temperatures will range between 1°C and 6°C, while the minimums will be between -3°C and -6°C.

Dry periods are expected around January 9-12 and 22-26. Snowfall is anticipated between January 3-8, 13-21, and 27-31.

Early January: Snow andVariability

The first ten days of January will bring frequent snowfall. On January 2, expect overcast conditions and a cool down from January 3 to 4, with temperatures dropping to -7°C in some traditionally warmer regions. A new cold and snowy wave will hit on January 8, primarily impacting the Rhodope Mountains.

Mid-January: Brace for the Cold

From January 11 to 15, temperatures will remain low, with readings ranging from -5°C to 0°C. Prepare for another snowfall across the country, and snow flurries in Dobrudja around January 17.

Late January: Stability and Unpredictability

The third decade of January will start with dry weather and frequent fog in low-lying areas. Plans for sunshine in the mountains may be disrupted by sudden weather changes from January 25 to 31.

Sun Activity and Folklore

Sun activity will remain low throughout most of January, with no geomagnetic storms expected. According to folklore, abundant snowfall in January signals a bountiful harvest in the coming year.
