Jember University Student Dies After Jumping From 7th Floor
Jember, Indonesia – In a tragic incident that rocked Jember University (Unej) in East Java on the evening of December 23rd, 2024, a male student leaped to his death from the 7th floor of a campus building. The body was first spotted by joggers in the vicinity.
The 20-year-old victim, a third-semester student in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity, with the initials DR, has been confirmed as a Sosiologi (Sociology) major.
Iim Fahmi Ilman, the Deputy Head of Unej’s Press and Information Bureau, confirmed the incident. "Yes, it’s true that a student from FISIP fell in front of the CRIST building," he stated.
While initial reports suggest the student committed suicide, the true motive behind this drastic action remains unclear. Unej authorities are currently cooperating with local police in the ongoing investigation.
