New Characters and November Event Calendar
Bayonetta joined the character roster on November 3 as the first free character of Year Two, unlockable through Rival Duel matches with her Butterfly Witch machine and special emotes. According to the November event calendar released by SEGA, a Duel Match Best-of-10 event runs from November 12 to November 15, followed by the release of the McLaren Racing update on November 17. The game’s competitive structure also changed, extending festivals from three days to 10 days and determining rankings through win streaks rather than Festival Points, according to TwistedVoxel.
Expansion of Modes, Features, and Future Content
Global community director Aaron Webber outlined the extensive additions included in version 2.0.0, which was developed by Sonic Team. The update introduces a total of 15 new gadgets alongside the Super Slot, which is unlocked by players who have completed at least 40 races to reach the Grand Master Plate. World Match options have been expanded to include Ranked Match for standard competitive play and Free Match, a mode where outcomes do not impact player ranks. A new in-game shop has been added, allowing users to trade Donpa Tickets and Duel Medals for a variety of rewards, alongside weekly play missions that grant incentives for completing specific objectives.

The update also incorporates numerous balance updates and technical corrections across the game’s courses. High-difficulty CPUs received a fix to ensure they properly defend against the Homing Punch, and ring respawn times during online races were shortened to make them easier to acquire for middle-pack racers. Wall bounces for throws were lowered to a maximum of two to decrease self-inflicted hits.
Upcoming Year Two Roadmap
SEGA has laid out a comprehensive roadmap for the second year of content, promising a total of six premium DLC packs and eight free updates. Following Bayonetta’s arrival in November 2026, the free character lineup will feature McLaren Racing (Sonic) later in the month, followed by Aigis in early 2027.
