Sound And Fury 2024: Rival Mob & Carry On Reunions Lead Lineup

by Chief Editor

The Sound And Fury festival, dedicated to hardcore music and related genres, will return to LA’s Exposition Park August 15-16. A significant portion of the lineup has been announced, with the reunions of Rival Mob and Carry On as key highlights.

Reunited Bands

Rival Mob, a Boston band known for their energetic live shows, last performed in 2016. They released one album, Mob Justice, in 2013, alongside several demos and EPs. Carry On, a metallic hardcore band from Los Angeles, released their only album, A Life Less Plagued, in 2001 before disbanding in 2005.

Did You Know? Carry On previously performed a partial reunion during God’s Hate’s set at last year’s Sound And Fury festival.

Following the breakup of Carry On, Todd Jones went on to perform with Nails, and Ryan George joined Youth Code.

Diverse Lineup

Beyond the reunions, the festival will feature artists spanning multiple genres, including death metal (Obituary), emo (Saves The Day, Oakwood), and metallic hardcore (Merauder). A wide range of currently active hardcore bands are also scheduled to perform, including Angel Du$t, Incendiary, Warthog, and XWeaponX.

Expert Insight: Reunions like these often signal a renewed interest in earlier eras of hardcore music, and can draw dedicated fans back to the scene while also introducing the bands to fresh audiences. The inclusion of both established and contemporary acts suggests an effort to appeal to a broad spectrum of hardcore enthusiasts.

The lineup also includes artists representing screamo (Holder, Knumears, Train Breaks Down), oi (Home Front, Beton Armé), and dance-pop (Nuovo Testamento, Sextile). The full lineup is expected to be revealed in April.
