In a Spirit of Unity, Police Chief Urges Tightening Grip on Solidarity, Ahead of Christmas
As the festive season approaches, Indonesia’s National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, extends warm Christmas greetings, urging unity and togetherness among citizens. Speaking at a recent event, he emphasized the importance of strengthening bonds and promoting harmony within Indonesian society.
"This Christmas, let’s embrace our oneness and solidarity," the General said. "We may have different beliefs and backgrounds, but we’re all Indonesians, united under the flag of this great nation."
The call for unity comes amidst celebrations that, according to Antara, many Christians see as an opportune moment to express care and concern for one another. The 2024 Christmas, they believe, should not just be about indulging in feasts and exchanging gifts, but also about reflecting on Jesus’ teachings and applying them in everyday life.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) highlights the role of places of worship, or ‘rumah ibadah’, in promoting both inner peace and religious understanding. Menag, the Minister’s official spokesperson, notes that these spiritual spaces serve as bastions of tranquility and reflection, fostering a sense of religious consciousness that permeates society.
In line with this, the Archdiocese of Jakarta is encouraging Christian faithful to immerse themselves in the trinitarian message of Christmas – love, peace, and joy. Through various activities and reflections, the Archdiocese aims to inspire its followers to embody these holy virtues, spreading them to all corners of society.
