In a devastating turn of events, a car plowed into acrowd at a Christmas market in Magdeburg on December 20, leaving five dead and 235 injured. The attacker, a Saudi Arabian national who has been residing in Germany since 2006, is currently under investigation.

Officials have confirmed that all 72 injured individuals who were hospitalized have now been discharged, with the exception of 15 critically injured victims who remain under medical care. Dr. Robert Verdehauzen, head of the intensive care unit at Magdeburg University Hospital, reassured the public that the condition of these patients is now stable.

In a somber statement, Verdehauzen noted, "We have successfully stabilized all 15 of the most seriously injured, including several children, who were admitted in a critical state."

As authorities continue to probe the attacker’s motives, the city of Magdeburg and its people mourn the loss of life and extend their support to the injured and their families.
