Headline: Missing Passenger Prompts Search Operation in Norway“>Stavanger
Article:
Stavanger, Norway – A search operation is underway in Stavanger after a passenger was reported missing following a ferry trip from Vassøy Island to the city. The incident occurred when the ferry arrived at the Fiskepiren terminal on Wednesday evening.
Vassøy is a small island situated off the coast of Stavanger with no direct road connection to the mainland. The ferry service is the primary mode of transportation for residents and visitors alike.
The Statoil Heritage Region Service (HRS) is leading the search operation, conducted in coordination with the South-West Police District. Rune Tallaksen, operations leader at the police district, confirmed the incident and appealed to the public for help.
"We have reason to believe that a passenger who boarded the Vassøy ferry at 20:15, heading towards Stavanger, might have gone unnoticed upon arrival," Tallaksen said.
Authorities are urging anyone who was on the same ferry or has information about the missing passenger to come forward. If you have any relevant information, please contact the South-West Police District immediately.
