Ukraine is bolstering its air force capabilities with a significant training milestone achieved overseas. A total of 200 Ukrainian military pilots have completed initial flight, ground, and language training in the UK, paving the way for them to transition to operating F-16 fighter jets, as announced by the UK’s official Facebook page.

The UK Royal Air Force instructors provided comprehensive training to the Ukrainian pilots, covering generalized aircraft control, instrument flying, navigation, low-level flight, and formation flying. This foundational training sets the stage for the next phase, where the Ukrainian pilots will begin learning to operate American-made F-16s.

Ukraine’s F-16 acquisition and pilots’ training programs have been ongoing, with key allies like the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, and Belgium contributing to the cause. Although the exact number of F-16s delivered remains classified, Ukraine aims to secure around 80 of these advanced aircraft. The training programs involve theoretical instruction, simulator practice, and real-life flights on F-16s, predominantly taking place in the US, Denmark, and Romania.

Recently, Ukraine received a second batch of F-16s, and it has also signed an agreement with Greece for pilot training on these combat aircraft. As the conflict continues, Ukraine’s air force prepares to defend its skies with enhanced capabilities, thanks in part to international support and the dedication of its pilots.
