Bulgaria Braces for Winter Storm: Snow and Rain Expected Nationwide
Overnight and throughout Saturday, Bulgaria will experience a cold atmospheric front, bringing rain to most parts of the country. In Northern Bulgaria, the Balkan Mountains, and highlands in Western Bulgaria, snow is expected to mix with the rain. In the higher mountain regions, snowfall is anticipated to be significant.
On Sunday morning and before noon, rain is expected in the Thracian Lowland and Eastern Bulgaria, with the heaviest showers subsiding by late morning. Cloud cover will start to clear, and most regions will see sunshine by the afternoon. Moderate winds from the west-northwest are expected, with gusts in the Danube Plain. Temperatures will range from -2°C to 3°C in the lows and 2°C to 7°C in the highs. In Sofia, temperatures are expected to dip to around -1°C and reach a high of 2°C.
Mountain regions will be cloudy with snow showers, expected to clear by the afternoon. Moderate to strong winds from the west-northwest are expected. The maximum temperature at 1,200 meters will be around -2°C, and at 2,000 meters, it will be around -6°C.
Coastal regions along the Black Sea will see a mix of clouds and rain, with showers expected to clear by the afternoon. Moderate winds from the west-northwest are expected, with gusts along the northern coast. Temperatures will range from 6°C to 8°C, with sea water temperatures around 8°C to 10°C. The wave height will be 2-3 meters.
