Suicide Verdict Issued for Singer Lauren Bennett After Inquest

British singer Lauren Bennett, best known for providing vocals to LMFAO’s worldwide hit Party Rock Anthem, died by suicide at age 36, an inquest in the U.K. revealed on October 30, 2026.

An inquest held at the Kent and Medway Coroners’ Court on Friday, October 30, 2026, established the official cause of death for the 36-year-old performer. Assistant coroner Jyoti Gill ruled a verdict of suicide, noting that the singer died from hanging on May 29, 2026, near her home in Meopham, Kent.

The disclosure brings official clarity more than five months after her passing. Bennett’s tragic death was initially shared with the public on July 6, 2026, when her former bandmates in the girl group G.R.L. posted a tribute statement on Instagram.

The Disappearance in Meopham and the Inquest Findings

On the morning of May 29, Bennett told her partner, actor and dancer Kenny Wormald, that she was going out for a walk at around 9 a.m. Wormald told police that he was still half asleep when she left their home. When she failed to return after a few hours and did not answer calls or texts, Wormald and Bennett’s father, Richard Bennett, launched a search.

Using the Find My Phone app to track her device, Wormald and her father located her body in a nearby rural woodland area. Subsequent investigations and court testimony detailed an arduous battle with mental health in the months preceding that morning.

Bennett Faced Mental Health Crisis Before Her Death

Court proceedings in Maidstone revealed that Bennett had experienced a severe mental health crisis at the beginning of 2026. In January, after experiencing days without sleep, she was involuntarily hospitalized and placed under a mental health section following severe psychological distress.

Assistant coroner Jyoti Gill noted during the hearing that Bennett was in the care of special mental health services at the time of her death. Testimony showed she continued to report symptoms of distress regarding the effects of prescribed medication and had met with mental health services just days before May 29.

Her father, Richard Bennett, openly criticized the U.K.’s National Health Service, accusing medical professionals of failing to treat his daughter appropriately during her time of greatest need. In statements read into the court record, her family noted that she had also been diagnosed with Fragile X syndrome, an inherited genetic condition linked to anxiety and mood instability.

From Paradiso Girls and LMFAO to G.R.L.

Born in England, Bennett launched her professional entertainment career as a teenager. At age 17, she signed a record deal and moved independently to the United States, first gaining attention as a member of the girl group Paradiso Girls, whose 2009 single Patron Tequila featured Lil Jon and charted in the U.S. and Canada.

Her career reached a global audience in 2011 when she teamed up with electronic dance music duo LMFAO and GoonRock to provide the vocals on Party Rock Anthem. The track became a massive international phenomenon, topping charts across the U.K., U.S., Canada, Ireland, and Australia, and later being named the fifth most successful song of all time by Billboard.

In 2013, she joined G.R.L., a girl group formed by Robin Antin following the success of the Pussycat Dolls. The group scored a hit with Ugly Heart in 2014 before experiencing tragedy when bandmate Simone Battle died by suicide at age 25 in September 2014. G.R.L. initially disbanded in 2015, though Bennett returned for subsequent reunions and line-up revivals in 2016 and 2020.

Remembering an Amazing Life in Music

Outside of group recordings, Bennett collaborated as a featured artist with will.i.am and CeeLo Green, and built a life with Kenny Wormald. The couple opened a dance studio together in Los Angeles before eventually returning to the U.K. with their daughter, Harlow.

Paying tribute to her artistic legacy, Richard Bennett remembered his daughter’s remarkable journey through the entertainment industry. Watching her grow into the artist she became was one of the greatest joys of my life, he said in a statement presented in court. Her achievements in the music industry were beyond our wildest dreams and continue to make me so proud.
