Mystery Object Found Near Police Training Site in Horten; Authorities Investigate
HORTEN, Norway — Police in the Southeast region have cordoned off an area following the discovery of a suspicious object near a vacant building, according to a report published on Wednesday.
The object, which police have described as "suspicious," was found near a building where the police have previously conducted training exercises. The building is currently uninhabited.
Authorities have expressed no immediate concerns for the safety of the surrounding areas, stating that they have deployed a police patrol to monitor the scene.
"The object resembles a bomb but could also be a training device or a pile of fireworks," said Tom Richard Skuggedal, the operations leader at the scene. "We were not overly concerned when we found it. It was leaning against the building, and if it were real, it would not have caused any harm as it was away from any inhabited areas."
The police have sought assistance from their emergency response center to help determine the nature of the object. More information will be released as the investigation progresses.
This incident comes at a time when concerns about security are high, but police urge the public not to panic. They assure that the situation is under control and that they are working diligently to resolve the matter.
