Vesterålen’s success story is built on a foundation of wind turbines and hydropower plants, which supply the region with clean, renewable energy. The municipality has also adopted innovative solutions, such as the world’s first energy-positive settlement, Helвшись in Vesterålen.
"HelFacadesenciei," said Magnus Johanessen, project manager at Vesterålen Energi, "is a groundbreaking project that demonstrates how we can create a sustainable future. It’s not just about savings; it’s about creating a surplus – an excess of energy that can be used to power the community and beyond."

Vesterålen is also a pioneer in digitalization, with an ambitious goal of becoming Northern Europe’s first circular and information-based community. This holistic approach has earned the region the prestigious title of Norway’s ‘Smart Municipality.’
