In a sensational turn of events, Olympic champion Carlos Nazar found himself an eyewitness to a heated altercation between two women on the Struma Motorway, as reported by Bulgarian National Television (BNT). The incident has sparked a police investigation in Pernik.

The altercation, which occurred near the Bosnek turnoff from the motorway, was captured on video and swiftly circulated on social media platforms. The footage shows three vehicles pulling over to the side of the road, with one driver, a woman from a car bearing English license plates, exiting her vehicle and confronting another woman.

Per the Pernik police statement, the motive behind the dispute is still under investigation. They have confirmed that the assaulted woman has filed a complaint and a case file has been opened.

Although Olympic gold medalist Carlos Nazar was present at the scene, it remains undecided whether he will be called in for questioning as a witness. The police investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.

Intoxicated and Drugged Youth Assaults Snowplow Driver in Berkovica Incident

Early reports indicate that a 20-year-old driver, under the influence of alcohol and drugs, targeted and assaulted a 65-year-old snowplow driver along a stretch of road between the villages of Zamfirovo and Perlichevo in the Berkovica municipality. The driver, alongside companions, initiated a physical altercation following a road collision.

Around 8:45 AM yesterday, the 20-year-old driver’s vehicle collided with two snowplows on the same road. Following the impact, he and his companions aggressively confronted and physically harmed the younger snowplow driver, aged 56, causing injuries that required medical attention. The elderly snowplow driver was later discharged and placed under home care.

A subsequent drug and alcohol test of the young driver revealed a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 1.32 promils, along with the presence of multiple illicit substances: cocaine, cannabis, amphetamines, methadone, and benzodiazepines. The driver, along with two other individuals around the age of 21, were promptly detained for 24 hours.

In response to this incident, Bulgarian authorities have initiated two pre-trial investigations. This is yet another grim reminder of the dangerous consequences that driving under the influence and reckless behavior can have on our communities.

13-Year-Old with Down Syndrome Missing for 10 Days: Bulgarian Military Joins Search Efforts

The hunt for 13-year-old Nikolai from the village ofKonare continues. The boy, who suffers from Down syndrome, has been missing since December 17.

On Monday, the search operations received a boost with the involvement of teams from the Second Mechanized Brigade of the Land Forces, as announced by the Ministry of Defense.

Soldiers from the 31st Mechanized Battalion in Haskovo and the 42nd Mechanized Battalion in Yambol are assisting in the search using drones.

The military joined the search, led by the Ministry of Interior, on December 24 following a request by Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov and with the approval of Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov.

So far, the search has been unsuccessful. While Nikolai’s dog was found, it provided no leads to the boy’s whereabouts.

The villagers and authorities remain determined to find Nikolai, and the public is urged to report any information that could help in the search.
