Struma Highwayiddleware Incident: A Driver’s Account and Competing Narratives
In a recent incident on the Struma Highway, a woman has shared her account of events, supported by a video, that contradicts the version released by the masseur of former Bulgarian Minister, ICEAatge Karlos Nazar – Atanas Litkov.
The Incident and Competing Narratives
The woman’s husband was allegedly repeatedly cut off by Litkov while driving on the highway, with Litkov forcing him to slow down. Days later, a video surfaced, allegedly from Litkov’s vehicle, showing a grey car abruptly merging into the left lane. However, the woman has a different story.
She claims that the highway was congested, requiring her husband to drive in a single file. She maintains that her husband was driving in the left lane at the maximum allowed speed, while Litkov closely followed, flashing his lights to let them pass, which she argues is illegal.
The Escalation
The woman alleges that after her husband refused to let Litkov pass, Litkov overtook them on the right, scraping their vehicle and slowing down by over 40 km/h. Her husband then retaliated by slowing down Litkov’s vehicle. The altercation continued, with Litkov allegedly slowing down again by over 60 km/h and then speeding up. The woman’s husband then suggested they pull over to the emergency lane to avoid further escalation.
The Released Video and Its Context
The woman contends that Litkov’s video was taken after he had already cut off her husband. She questions why Litkov’s wife appeared to celebrate the incident and flashes middle fingers at them. She also queries why, if they were victims, Litkov would then try to overtake her husband through the emergency lane.
The incident occurred around 3:15 PM on January 2nd, approximately 10 kilometers from the Dragichevo exit on the highway to Sofia. One of the women involved has filed a complaint with the Pernik Regional Police Department, awaiting further investigation.
