Presidential Alliance: Prabowo Subianto and Party Leaders Hold Regular Meeting

In a sign of camaraderie and commitment to President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, leaders of parties within the Indonesia Maju Coalition (KIM) Plus held a regular meeting. The gathering, attended by President Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, aimed to discuss crucial agendas even during the festive season.

An Established Practice

Waketum of the NasDem Party, Saan Mustopa, described the meeting as routine. "It’s quite normal, as President Prabowo wishes to have regular meetups with party leaders," Saan said, speaking at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta.

Fostering Stability and Synergy

The meeting, focused on agenda items during the Christmas and New Year holiday season, was seen as vital by Saan. He highlighted the importance of regular dialogues to maintain stability and ensure that parties within the coalition are on the same page.

Solidifying Support

Saan emphasized the solidity of KIM Plus parties and their commitment to supporting President Subianto’s programs. "Regular meetings like this serve to strengthen communication and cooperation among parties," Saan added, "We are all committed to backing President Subianto’s administration."

Parties in KIM Plus, led by NasDem, are poised to further consolidate their support for the president’s initiatives. The joint effort is a testament to their collective desire to enhance the nation’s progress under President Subianto’s leadership.

Leaders of Indonesia Maju Coalition and Allies AttendPrivate Meeting with Prabowo;скоol in Silence

Article:

In a display of unity, leaders of several political parties from the Indonesia Maju Coalition (KIM) and its supporting parties gathered for a private meeting at the residence of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in Jakarta on Saturday night. However, they remained tight-lipped about the discussion that took place, lasting approximately two hours.

Chairmen of the political parties, including Bahlil Lahadalia of Golkar and Zulkifli Hasan of PAN, were seen entering Prabowo Subianto‘s private residence on Jalan Kertanegara, Jakarta Selatan. However, they offered no comment to the press upon leaving.

According to Bahlil Lahadalia, "It’s normal," he remarked when asked about the meeting by reporters waiting outside Prabowo’s residence. Meanwhile, other chairmen like Muhaimin Iskandar of PKB, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) of Demokrat, and Ahmad Syaikhu of PKS, left without making any statements.

The gathering comes as Prabowo, also the chairman of Gerindra Party, is set to attend a religious event and Christmas celebrations at the Indonesia Arena in Senayan, Jakarta, later in the evening. His vice-presidential candidate, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, had already arrived at the venue.

The purpose of the meeting remains unclear, as none of the attending party leaders chose to disclose any details. The silence surrounding the event has left observers speculating about the possible topics discussed, ranging from coalition politics to the upcoming legislative elections.

VP Gibran Rakabuming Raka Attends National Christmas Celebration in Jakarta

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia — Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, arrived at the location of the national Christmas celebration and commemoration, Indonesia Arena, in the GBK complex, Senayan, on Saturday (28/12).

Gibran arrived around 17:30 WIB, accompanied by Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasarudin Umar. Both were dressed in brown batik outfits. The eldest son of President Joko Widodo took the time to greet the congregation in the tribune area, not just for photos, but also to chat and engage with them.

However, until Gibran’s arrival, President Prabowo Subianto had not been seen at the location. The president is scheduled to attend and give a speech.

The peak of the national Christmas celebration is expected to be attended by around 11,000 worshippers on Saturday night. Secretary-General of the National Christmas Commemoration 2024, Chief Commissioner Albertus Rachmad Wibowo, said that the Indonesia Arena’s capacity could reach 15,000, but it was reduced due to the use of the main stage for comfort.

"Indonesia Arena’s capacity can reach 15,000. But because we’re using the stage to ensure comfort, we’ve limited the number of attendees to 11,000," Rachmad said during a press conference ahead of the National Christmas event on Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the National Christmas Commemoration, Thomas Djiwandono, said that the event would not only be attended by the president and vice president, but also by several ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet.

"From Suspect to Power Seeker: Hasto’s Allegations Expose PDIP’s Ambitions"

by Chief Editor December 26, 2024
written by Chief Editor

Title: PDI Perjuangan: Hasto Kristiyanto Warns of Power-Hungry Figures After Official’s Dismissal

In a stern warning, Sekjen PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto has spoken out about power-hungry figures within the party who harbor ambitions to extend presidential terms beyond constitutional limits. This comes on the heels of a high-ranking party member being labeled a suspect in a corruption case involving Harun Masiku.

Without naming the individual, Hasto commented on the situation, drawing attention to the potential disregard for Indonesia’s constitution. "When various intimidation attempts surface, aiming to prevent the removal of a figure with power-hungry ambitions, it seems the constitution is at risk of being violated," Hasto stated.

He further warned about efforts to stretch presidential terms beyond two periods or to amend the constitution to allow for longer durations. "This threatens our democratic principles and the rule of law," he added.

Hasto, who initially criticized the enforcement of democracy and the suppression of citizens’ voices, drew parallels between current PDIP members and the party’s founding principles. He quoted from Cindy Adams’ biography of Bung Karno, suggesting that party members should be prepared to face persecution and imprisonment for their beliefs.

Hasto also addressed the intimidation tactics employed by those trying to silence him, including the use of law enforcement and the manipulation of state resources for political gain. He assured the public that PDIP will not back down in its defense of democratic values and the supremacy of law.

Despite not naming the implicated figure, speculation is rife that Hasto is referring to Joko Widodo, the former president who was recently ousted from PDIP. Jokowi, along with his son Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and son-in-law Bobby Nasution, were all recently dismissed from the party. Jokowi maintained that he is not involved in the corruption case and has retired from politics.

Headline: VP Gibran Unaware of KPK’s Case against PDIP‘s Hasto Kristiyanto; Lawyer Considers Legal Steps

In a recent development in Indonesia, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has expressed his lack of involvement and knowledge regarding the recent corruption case involving Sekjen PDI Perjuangan (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto, which has been taken up by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Hasto was recently named a suspect in a case involving bribery and former PDIP legislative candidate, Harun Masiku. When questioned about this development, VP Gibran responded, "Why are you asking me? Ask KPK, it’s none of my business," after visiting the Yayasan Keluarga Allah in Solo, Jawa Tengah, on Christmas Day, as reported by Kompas.com.

Meanwhile, Hasto’s legal team is considering taking the case to the pre-trial stage following his classification as a suspect by the KPK. Alvon Kurnia Palma, Hasto’s lawyer, hinted at this possibility while discussing the topic ‘KPK Declares Hasto Kristiyanto a Suspect in Harun Masiku Bribery Case’ on Sapa Indonesia Pagi Kompas TV.

The KPK announced Hasto’s status as a suspect in the bribery case of Commissioners of the General Election Commission (KPU) period 2017-2022, Wahyu Setiawan, on Tuesday, December 24. Hasto is now a suspect alongside Harun Masiku, who remains at large.

KPK based its decision on several laws, including the Hukum Acara Pidana Law No. 8 of 1981, the Corruption Eradication Law No. 31 of 1999 (as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001), and the Corruption Eradication Commission Law No. 30 of 2002 (as amended several times, lastly by Law No. 19 of 2019).

The development follows KPK’s investigation report LPP-24/DIK 02.01/22/12/2024 dated December 18, 2024, and the Letter of Authority for Investigation No. Sprin Dik/ 153/DIK.00/01/12/2024, dated December 23, 2024. According to KPK, Hasto was named a suspect for offering gifts or promises to Wahyu Setiawan in his capacity as a member of the KPU.

As the case unfolds, all eyes are on the upcoming legal process and how it might impact the political landscape in Indonesia.

Megawati’s Role in the MK Ruling that Clears Gibran’s Path for the 2024 Presidential Election: ‘It’s Like Being Slapped.’

by Chief Editor December 12, 2024
written by Chief Editor

Megawati Soekarnoputri, Chairperson of Indonesia’s PDI Perjuangan party, expressed shock and disapproval of a recent Constitutional Court (MK) decision that altered age requirements for presidential candidates. This ruling opened the path for Gibran Rakabuming Raka to run in the 2024 presidential elections. Megawati delivered these remarks at a book launch event in Jakarta. She criticized the MK and its judges for lacking statesmanship and for prioritizing personal interests over national ones, leading to past electoral manipulations under authoritarian rule. Megawati reminded judges that they are sworn to uphold justice, quoting Islamic teachings that actions are recorded by two angels. She also urged that this message be conveyed to the judges, requesting them to uphold justice.

Title: Megawati’s Refusal of MK’s Verdict: "I Feel Like I’ve Been Hit by a Wave" Paves Way for Gibran’s Path in 2024 Presidential Elections

In a surprising turn of events, Megawati Sukarnoputri, the chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), has refused to accept the Constitutional Court’s (MK) decision on the legislative body’s candidacy list for the 2024 presidential elections. Her remarks, "Saya kayak ditampar" (I feel like I’ve been hit by a wave), have stirred up political discourse and cleared a potential path for a new face in the presidential race.

The MK Decision

On December 7, 2022, the Constitutional Court announced its decision regarding the legislative body’s (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat, DPR) candidacies for the 2024 presidential elections. The MK ruled that the DPR should re-calculate the number of seats allocated to each political party based on the 2019 legislative elections’ results. This ruling significantly reduced the number of seats allocated to PDI-P, Megawati’s party.

Megawati’s Response

Megawati, in a press conference following the MK’s verdict, expressed her disappointment and refusal to accept the court’s decision. She stated, "Saya kayak ditampar, tidak mungkin saya setuju" (I feel like I’ve been hit by a wave, it’s impossible for me to agree). She argued that the MK’s decision was politically motivated and unjust, indicating that PDI-P would not comply.

Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s Rising Star

Megawati’s refusal to accept the MK’s verdict has opened the door for Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), to emerge as a potential presidential candidate in 2024. Gibran, who was initially not expected to run due to Megawati’s presumed nomination, is now seen as a viable alternative.

Political Implications

  1. PDI-P’s Divide: Megawati’s stance may deepen the divide within PDI-P. While some support her decision, others are more pragmatic and willing to comply with the MK’s ruling.

  2. Jokowi’s Stance: Although Jokowi has repeatedly stated that he will not interfere with the 2024 elections, Gibran’s potential candidacy may pressure him to comment on the matter.

  3. 2024 Presidential Race: Gibran’s entry into the race would add another layer of complexity. He might appeal to younger voters, but his lack of political experience could also be a hindrance.

Conclusion

Megawati’s refusal to accept the MK’s verdict has set the stage for a more competitive 2024 presidential election. Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s potential candidacy has stirred up political discourse and thrown a wildcard into the already dynamic Indonesian political landscape. As the country moves closer to the 2024 elections, it will be interesting to observe how these developments unfold and shape the political narrative.
