Latest Developments: GERB Continues Government Talks Without ‘Democratic Bulgaria‘
In a recent update, GERB has announced that negotiations for forming a new government are proceeding without the participation of ‘Democratic Bulgaria’. The party’s Executive Committee has tasked its negotiation team to continue talks with ‘BSP – United Left‘ and ‘There Is Such a People’ to establish a regular government.
The move comes amidst talks to form a stable government following last year’s elections. GERB’s Executive Committee has confirmed the nomination of Roshen Zheliazkov as the party’s candidate for Prime Minister, with the first mandate of GERB – SDS. Zheliazkov has been authorized to lead the party’s negotiation team.
Additionally, GERB’s Executive Committee has instructed its negotiation team to engage in discussions to secure support for the cabinet and the formation of a majority that would subsequently address changes in the Electoral Code and the Law on Judicial Authority.
In an interesting turn of events, GERB has stated that it is open to holding talks with ‘Democratic Bulgaria’ if the latter expresses willingness to support a regular government under the leadership of Roshen Zheliazkov.
