STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State University’s women’s rodeo team secured first place at last weekend’s South Texas Collegiate Classic Rodeo at Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, accumulating 335 points.
Women’s Team Dominates
The team’s success was driven by strong performances across all events. Breakaway roper Rylee Grace Abel recorded a two-run time of 3.9 seconds, including a rodeo-best 1.9 in the preliminary go-round and a 2.0 in the finals. Faith Lundberg achieved the fastest time in the goat tying finals with a 5.7, finishing with a total average of 12.7. Patton Lynch’s 14.5 in the barrel racing long go contributed to a two-run total of 29.49.
Strong Individual Performances
Additional contributions came from Anna Clark, who finished sixth in barrel racing with a combined time of 29.96. Karmen Martin placed seventh with a 29.99, while Ashlyn Goven took eighth with a 34.72 and Maci McDonald finished tenth with a 39.82.
Men’s Team Finishes Third
Tarleton State’s defending national champion men’s team finished third in San Antonio. Four bareback riders placed in the top five, led by Devon Moore, whose two-head score of 156 tied for first place. Moore’s rides were scored at 82.5 and 73.5 points. Taylon Carmody finished third with a 155.5, Clay Greenslade fourth with 151.5, and Jace Lomheim fifth with 146.5.

Brenson Bartlett secured second place in bull riding with a long go score of 83. Montgomery Parsons and Colton Lewis finished second and fifth, respectively, in saddle bronc riding, scoring 143 and 129. Kreece Dearing placed third in tie-down roping, Dalton Porch fourth in steer wrestling, and Conner Callihan, alongside Kutter Babb of Ranger College, took third in team roping.
Both Tarleton State teams will next compete on March 26 at the Ranger College Rodeo in Sweetwater.
