A Man in Custody in Trondheim After Serious Assault
A man is in custody in Trondheim following a serious assault that occurred on Friday evening. The arrest was made without incident, according to Anne Haave, the senior public prosecutor in Trøndelag police district, who spoke to Adresseavisen on Saturday morning.
The suspect, who has a residential address in Namdalen, is charged with causing grievous bodily harm. He is known to the police from previous incidents. Haave revealed that the suspect will be questioned today and is likely to be remanded in custody on Sunday.
The victim was airlifted to St. Olavs Hospital in Trondheim, where he was unconscious when the police arrived. Initial statements suggested he had sustained head injuries. As of Saturday morning, the full extent of his injuries remains unclear.
"[The victim] is not critically injured, but the extent of his injuries is still not clear," said Haave. "He is not yet able to be questioned."
Ivar Hustad, the defense lawyer appointed to the case, has spoken to the suspect, who denies any wrongdoing. According to Hustad, the suspect maintains that he was the one who was attacked, not the aggressor in the incident.
