Breaking Winds Batter San Luis: Apocalyptic Vents Top 120 km/h

In a sudden and terrifying turn of events, the city of San Luis was pummeled by a powerful storm that brought winds clocking in at over 120 kilometers per hour, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

The limb of wind, resembling a monsterous tornado, hit the city yesterday evening, around 6:30 PM. While the rain was minimal, the gusts were fierce, uprooting trees and scattering debris across the cityscape. Eyewitness accounts describe scenes of chaos, with trees toppled like matchsticks and rooftops peeled off houses and industrial buildings.

Citizens scrambled for safety, seeking refuge beneath bridges along the Eva Perón Highway and the Ruta Nacional 7. Social media platforms filled with harrowing footage showcasing the storm’s fury.

Potrero de los Funes, a nearby locality, didn’t escape the storm’s wrath. In one particularly devastated neighborhood, a family’s home lost its roof in the windstorm, with neighbors rushing to their aid.

The impact of the storm was so severe that it left the city’s power grid incapacitated, leaving San Luis without electricity. Despite the storm having passed, the city continues to grapple with the aftereffects.

Drivers near the city’s entrance sought refuge at a service station to protect their vehicles from the rampaging winds.

Swiftly, authorities and emergency services responded to the chaos. The city’s intendente, Gastón Hissa, led cleanup efforts throughout the night. The historic Plaza Pringles, located in the city center, suffered significant damage, with trees falling and benches strewn about.

One municipal worker commented, "We’re chopping up the fallen trees to load them onto trucks. The wind was truly intense."

This catastrophic event was brought to light by Alejandro Heredia and Guillermo Hemmerling.
